The World Classic is a simple to use 36-foot sailing yacht based on the classic eight meter sail boats of the 1920's. The vessel was designed for fast weekend cruising or club racing. The boat is intended for coastal, inshore and lake sailing. The design is also influenced by the classic sailing yachts of Scandinavia, which are traditionally low and narrow with a high sail area. The underwater shape is ‘moderately' modern, with a short keel and good volume aft. The rudder is placed well aft on station 10. There is some ‘bustle' at this point. The overall length and beam allows a sizeable cruising yacht & rig but will also fit inside a standard 40-foot ships container for simple and inexpensive storage or transport to any location world-wide. The yacht is rigged as a cutter so as to allow one or both of the headsails to be quickly roller furled without the need to work on the fore deck. All sheets, lines and halyards are led aft to the cockpit so raising, lowering and reefing sails takes place from this protective area. The mast and boom is made of aluminium but can also be made of varnished spruce. The deck is flush, with a ample side and foredeck area. A classic varnished solid teak skylight is fitted fwd of the mast.
