The Luise family have been in the yachting business since 1847. The Company was founded by Joseph Luise, who became one of the forefathers of this elite industry when he established J. Luise & Sons, in the Italian city of Naples. Over the course of time, natural changes in the market, and an increase in leisure boating in the ‘50s and ‘60s led to a larger consumer group, with a rising request for ever more assistance and services. In fact, the increase in maritime tourism brought about a rise in quality, characteristic of the times when the famous English Lords would spend the winter in the wonderful climate of our coast. An whole industry sprung up to iron out various natural and technical problems involved with finding suitable landing-places, restructuring them and offering possible services. J. Luise & Sons Ltd were involved in finding solutions for problems such as raising finance, dealing with intermediaries, adaptation of reception services and influencing the drawing up of legislation that was not existent then. They were conscious of the importance of tourism in the Bay of Naples, investing in initiatives that had not been possible in the past. Conscious that they were operating in an unfavourable political climate, J. Luise & Sons realised that the port of Mergellina was congested and no longer fit for expansion. The lovely bay of Posillipo was much more suitable for the creation of new moorings.

J. Luise & Sons Ltd had considerable technical experience for over a century, as well as their own financial resources. The project foresaw a chain of landing spaces for tourists, extending throughout the coastline of Naples, Capri, Ischia, Miseno, ready to welcome international and tourist sea craft with open arms. A project guided by a tenacity, enthusiasm and optimism which has been much admired. The original purpose of this project was never forgotten, this being the call by the Ministry for Maritime Defence to organise logistical services for the handling of the maritime area of the Olympic Games in 1960. Fuel lines were also installed for this event.

In 1973 J. Luise & Sons, run at that stage by brothers Rismondo, Tomaso and Vico, consolidated their experience to create the first Mega-yacht mooring in the centre of the city of Naples. Following this great success they transferred their vast experience to the prestigious island of Capri and the fertile island of Ischia.

In 1985 Tomaso Luise branched of from J. Luise & Sons and created Luise International that became an innovative, highly successful family run Company with the help of his two sons, Fulvio and Massimo. Their outlook was towards the rising international market establishing contact with the U.S to fortify their already prestigious position. They concentrated on the islands of Capri and Ischia introducing the latter to the larger yachts that cruised the area.

The mutual beneficial merger in 2003 between the two companies, once competitors, marked the beginning of Luise Associates that has become one of the strongest partnerships in the yachting industry world today! The location of Mergellina Marina at the heart of the Mediterranean, little more than a day’s cruising from the French Riviera or Greece, makes it an ideal location for charter guests and large yachts to stay and carry out operations, such as boarding or landing of guests and owners, refuelling, provisioning and why not to explore the fascinating city of Naples and its surroundings. Our marina can accommodate mega-yachts up to nearly 100 mt L.O.A. After the unification, Luise Associates searched for new challenges, starting with the creation of Sardinia Yacht Services, with its two offices based in Porto Cervo, and able to cover all the megayachts needs on the island. This project was followed by Luise Associates Rome, with the creation of an office in Ostia Marina-Rome only 15 minutes distant from the international airport of Fiumicino and half an hour from the heart of the Capital city. Looking further a field once again and after a great demand from the Mega-yacht community Luise Associates Sicily was established in 2005. The new horizons for 2006 have been Luise Associates & Co. Riviera, based in Sanremo, which is strategically placed for the whole of the Ligurian Coast, with localities such as Portofino, and the Cote d’Azur. Our presence in the Western Med was completed by Corsica Yacht Services. And, far from the European borders, the Blue Water Alliance USA, based in Ft Lauderdale, which gave Luise the possibility to be represented overseas all year long. But the challenge never ends, and the year 2007 has seen the birth of Tuscany Yacht Services, a new partnership aimed at offering the best service and assistance, not only in Viareggio and Livorno, but in the whole inland of Tuscany as well.
