Yachting (Gibraltar)

Yachting Gibraltar was originally registered as a Gibraltar company in 1996 for yacht brokering and chartering. It was taken over by Vic and Lyn Punch in 2001 and has been offering RYA sailing tuition and courses ever since.

Now a fully recognized RYA training center Yachting Gibraltar's aims are to provide tuition to those who really wish to learn sailing opposed to just achieving a certificate with the minimum amount of work. Of course RYA certificates are given just the same as any other sail training center but at Yachting Gibraltar the emphasis is more on the skills. Our instructors like to relax in the evening the same as any others but gone are the binge drinking pub crawling courses offered by some other centers.

What's different at Yachting Gibraltar.

The main differences are the number of students allowed on each boat. The maximum is 3 and the minimum is 2 or one when we can supply crew. This is to provide an exclusive service for those with limited time and who wish to move on quickly. All students get a private cabin and when sailing have maximum time skippering and boat handling with out having to wait for four other students to go first.

Food is prepared by a local restaurant for the three evening meals provided on the sailing courses. Breakfasts and lunches are provided each day and are prepared on board by the skipper and students.

The boats are all modern and have the latest electronics. All boats have electric windlasses for hauling up the anchor in fact no expense has been spared on the equipment used and it is all way above the average generally used by sail training centres.

The instructors are all fully qualified RYA Yachtmaster instructors and have been specially selected to work with Yachting Gibraltar because of their personality, training, skills and good feedback from previous clients. Most other sail training centres use cruising instructors for training students up to Day Skipper level. Yachting Gibraltar dose not use cruising instructors at all.
